Custom Table
Something a little different for the works this time. Our customer was commissioned to provide a “rustic” dining table and bench for use as a prop in a BBC television program. The Fat Fairy Works restor-curio workshop was proud too be asked to make the table and bench legs for the customer. They were fabricated out of 70 x 30 x 3 mm steel box section and included all the mounting supports and pre-drilled bolt holes for the table and bench top and the underside support rails. They were finished in a black high gloss food safe and scratch resistant paint. Many thanks to the owner for the use of this picture.

Vintage Pond Yatch
Commission item. An interesting restoration for the works. This vintage pond yacht from around 1960 holds great sentimental value to the owner and although will probably never be sailed again, it is to be fully restored to use as a window centre piece.
The original sails were made from a very thin “nylon” type material and were not salvageable.

Vintage Pond Yatch - after
The vintage yatch after undergoing the Fat Fairy Works treatment. It was totally stripped, repainted, and a complete new deck and set of sails made with decorative rather than functional rigging for simplicity. The base is a heavy oak block but the top layer is a piece of veneer salvaged from the original deck material.
With grateful thanks to the owner for giving permission to use the images of her precious item.

Vintage dining chair - after
Commision. The chair was disassembled and stripped back to clean wood. Unfortunately some of the back members were either a different wood or a different cut which mean that they would not have matched when stained and polished. With the customers agreement the chair was painted instead. The seat pad was reupholstered and covered.
